VIRTUAL WALK-A-THON 2020

The Walk-a-Thon website is live!

This year the spirit of the Walk-a-Thon continues, but there will be some key changes.  We have centralized all the information on the Greater Giving non-profit website to help families be informed.  It includes dates/times for each grade, the Zoom link, and how to get and report pledges.

  • The “What do families need to do” section explains the four steps: getting pledges, participating in the Virtual Walk-a-Thon, collecting money and reporting pledges.  The papers you need are linked within those sections.

  • On the top right hand side of the website is a Quick Links section. You can find all the paperwork you need there. Start by reading Virtual Walk-a-Thon Printable Instructions, it has all the information in a friendly one-pager.

  • Another major update is how we are going to get and report pledges. The easiest way to get online  donations is by sharing our Virtual Walk-a-Thon donation page. Check and cash donations are gladly accepted - families will have to bring cash and checks to the Jefferson Office. Finally, instead of turning in pledge sheets, families will report totals by responding to a Google Form (which will be shared later).

What’s Different About This Year?

Jefferson School PTA’s annual Walk-a-thon is a special tradition for our school students, families, teachers, and staff — and this tradition proudly carries on for 2020. Like every year, this is going to be community-focused and full of fun, fitness, and giveaways! But since an in-person gathering isn’t feasible this year, we will be adapting this event in a creative way with a Virtual Walk-a-thon, that will still allow us to connect, move and show our school spirit.

  • Instead of walking around the school for 10 laps, students will complete 10 different sets of exercises.

  • Students will get donations based on how many exercise sets they complete.

  • More Prizes!! Classroom and individual prizes will be awarded across all grades. The reward isn't for the biggest check, it's for getting as many pledges as possible!

We know these times are challenging and like no other we’ve been through. Jefferson school too will need your support more than ever. Let’s try to reach our goal to raise $30,000 towards vital programs like counseling, literacy support, English language development, P.E., and much-needed teacher supplies.
