What is escrip?

Escrip is a donation program where particpating merchants donate a percentage of your purchases to Jefferson School. All you do is shop at the stores you normally would, pay with your usual credit card that you registered with escrip, and the merchant donates a percentage of your purchase to Jefferson. Typically, merchants donate 2-5% of your purchase to Jefferson.

It may not sound like a lot, but each year Jefferson receives thousands of dollars in scrip revenue through the everyday purchases of parents like you.

Note that our family participation in these programs could be much higher. Remember, the cost to you is zero. Let's not leave free money on the table. Do your part and sign up today.

How do I sign up for escrip?

To sign up for escrip:

  1. Have your credit cards and Safeway cards ready.
  2. Log in to http://www.escrip.com/.
  3. Enter either our Group ID: 137588399 OR our Group Name: Jefferson Elementary PTA.

Which merchants particpate in escip?

What is schoolpop?

School pop is a donation program very similar to escrip, only for online purchases. That is, a portion of your online purchases at participating schoolpop merchants goes to Jefferson. You can log into their site, search for products, and shop at their affiliated stores or just use their merchant tool and you will be automatically redirected to affiliated stores when you do searches through your web browser and click on one of their affiliates. Either way, a percentage of your purchase goes to Jefferson school. Rebates are typically 2-4%.

  1. Have your credit cards ready.

Many, many merchants participate in schoolpop. A partial list of schoolpop merchants includes:

Paper Scrip

What is paper scrip?

Paper scrip is very simililar to escrip in that purchases at certain grocery stores earn money for Jefferson. You buy scrip dollars to spend at face value. $100 buys you $100 of scrip dollars. However, the PTA spends only $95 to buy them. You pay nothing extra, the PTA earns the difference to support valuable programs at Jefferson.

How do I sign up for paper scrip?

If you shop at Berkeley Natural Grocery or El Cerrito Natural Grocery, contact the paper scrip coordinator for Natural Groceriers.

If you shop at Berkeley Bowl, contact the paper scrip coordinator for Berkeley Bowl.

Last year, with just seven families participating almost $500 was earned for the PTA at no cost to them.

What are box tops for education?

Box tops for education are:

  • Coupons that can be found on General Mills, Betty Crocker, Pillsbury, Green Giant Tontino's, Progresso, Old El Paso and Gold Medal products.
  • A shopping gateway similiar to schoolpop where a percentage of purchases at affiliated merchants goes to Jefferson.

Where do I turn in the coupons?

Collect official Box Tops for Education coupons and bring them to school. Give them to your child's teacher or place them in the Box Top box in the office.

How do I sign up for boxtops4education.com?

To sign up for boxtops4education:

  1. Have your credit cards ready.
  2. Log in to http://www.boxtops4education.com/

Shop at http://www.boxtops4education.com. Each online shopping trip begins at the BoxTops Marketplace, which is your gateway to more than 100 stores in all.

In 2004, we had a goal of 2500 Box Tops. Last year we collected 2,400. It is easy to save and help Jefferson. Tell friends and family to send you their Box Tops or order online and register Jefferson as their school to benefit. For more information, contact the Box Tops Coordinator.

Shopping at Target

If you shop at Target, here's another quick and easy way to raise funds for Jefferson and save money on your shopping trips while you're at it.

How do I sign up?

To raise money for Jefferson by shopping at Target:

  1. Sign up for a free Target REDCard or Target Visa Card. You can do this right at the register while you're making your purchase, or you can go to the customer service desk at Target. The REDCard can be used at Target (and Target.com) only; the Target Visa is a regular credit card.
  2. When you get your card in the mail, go online to www.target.com/tcoe (or call 1-800-316-6142) and designate Jefferson as your school.
  3. Shop. That's it!

The Benefits for Jefferson

Jefferson gets 1% of what you spend at Target (in store and online) using either card. If you get the Visa card, Jefferson also gets 1/2% of your expenditures anywhere you use it.

Aside from helping your child(ren)'s school without having to spend an extra penny or take time from your busy schedule, you get 10% off your Target purchase the day you sign up, and if you're a big Target shopper, you'll get a 10% off coupon for an entire day of shopping each time your spending totals reach $1,000.
