The Ruth Acty Elementary Community

A strong sense of community is fostered at Ruth Acty Elementary School in everything we do. Ruth Acty Elementary is a school where all families belong, and we welcome any way that you want to be part of our community! That includes anything from picking up and dropping off your child, to enjoying school events and volunteering your energy and expertise. Working together, our staff and parents/guardians make Ruth Acty Elementary a school that meets the needs of our diverse community. Our goal is that every family feel supported and included. In 2010, Ruth Acty Elementary (formerly Jefferson) was named a “California Distinguished School” for our excellence in raising achievement for all of our students. In 2011, we were awarded the Title One Award for Academic Achievement. We truly believe that all students have tremendous potential and creativity. Our goal is to help every student use their gifts to succeed.

Lunch/recess Information

What are the options for lunch?

Students may bring a lunch or eat lunch cooked by district nutrition services staff. Much of the food is cooked from scratch in the MLK middle school kitchen, which serves all elementary schools in the district. You will receive a “lunch calendar” that lists the foods served each day.

What is supervision like at recess?

The playground is supervised by 4-5 adults during recess. The PE program staff organizes activities for the kids to participate in during lunch recess.
