K-3 Music
Katie Brooks teaches music to K-3 students for half an hour each week. The emphasis is on singing. Ms. Brooks likes to teach children to use their voices well and in different ways and to develop their abilities to sing in pitch.
The kids play rhythm instruments now and then, and Ms. Brooks also teaches notation and solfege as well. The kids learn some notation of rhythm and a little staff writing.
Katie Brooks recommends that parents:
- Share their enjoyment of music with their children.
- Treat music practice like any other school work—not optional, just part of education.
- Try to relax. Not easy!
