Ruth Acty Return to In Person Information: Schedules, Maps & More

Training and Set-Up Days, March 23th – 26th

During the four days prior to school reopening, from March 23th to March 26th, we will shift to several days of a Wednesday Distance Learning schedule to permit teachers and school staff to complete their final on-campus preparations for In-Person Learning, and to prepare for Distance Learning teachers to meet their new classes. During these days, you can expect that your child will participate in a morning Zoom class with their teacher, and that enrichment and Special Education teachers will balance online instruction with setting up their own instructional spaces, training, and rewriting schedules.

During these days, teachers will participate in COVID safety training, be oriented by their principal about campus modifications and procedures, and set up their classrooms.

Teachers will be guided to set up their classrooms in the following manner, consistent with current guidelines from the California Department of Public Health.

Dates for DL and In Person Schedule Changes

  • TK - 2nd - March 29

  • 3rd - 5th - April 12

Bus - Transportation Requests

Limited Bus Availability Dues to Distancing Requirements

Families email their request to transportationdept@berkeley.net.

Please include the child's name, grade, address and phone number. If you need morning and afternoon transportation.

Students are not eligible for bus transportation if they live within 1.5 miles from the school site.

For Special Ed students, parents must contact the BUSD Special Education Department and request transportation with their child's program supervisor or special education teacher. BUSD Transportation will receive transportation requests from Special Ed staff to process.

Daily Health Screener

bit.ly/berkeleyhealthscreener

This will be filled out by families daily before you arrive at the drop off. Do not answer yes to the questions if your child’s symptoms are related to a chronic condition such as allergies and asthma. Please provide a doctor’s note to Celia (the secretary) notifying us of the condition.

If a family member has not filled out the screener, the child will go through these questions with a staff member. This will greatly slow down the entry process. Please fill out the screener!

Arrival and Dismissal

It is critical that you arrive at your start time at the correct entrance, give your loves to your child and then walk or drive away. This will leave parking and physical space for the next group of families dropping off. URGENT - Please do not double park, block driveways and please follow traffic rules. Thanks.

While there are 15 minutes between each entry, we hope to reduce this to 10 once the school and families have gotten the hang of this.

Bikes

If your child is riding their bike, they will enter the black gates in the middle of the yard on Rose St. at their designated time. They will lock them against the new addition and proceed to their class.
