Your Chipotle Fundraiser Is One Month Away

Dear Phil Polishuk,

A reminder, your Chipotle fundraiser is one month away! Attached is the official fundraiser flyer to send to your supporters ahead of time to promote the event.

  • 04/18/2017
  • 3:00pm-9:00pm
  • 1050 Gilman, Berkeley, CA 94710

Fundraiser Reminders

  • Make sure that your supporters show the official flyer (hard copy or on their phone) or tell the cashier at checkout that they are here for a fundraiser before they pay! If they don’t tell our cashier they are there for the fundraiser, your organization won’t get credit for the sale.
  • Your organization is NOT permitted to hand out flyers to regular customers or promote the event inside or outside of the restaurant or in the parking lot at any time.
  • Gift cards purchased during fundraisers do not count towards total donated sales, but purchases made with an existing gift card will count.
  • If placing an order online during your fundraiser, please note you must choose the pay in-store option and inform our cashier of your participation before paying. This will ensure your order is counted towards the fundraiser!

Earth Day Activities

Hello Jefferson families!  The Green Team will be facilitating an Earth Day celebration on Friday, April 21st, with eco-friendly yard activities during morning and afternoon recesses (see below for more details).  We are collecting USED CDs (old CDs that you no longer listen to, scratched/broken, or any kind of used CD that you no longer want) for a upcycled CD art project and are placing a collection box outside the school office.  We are also seeking PARENT/GUARDIAN VOLUNTEERS to help out with the yard activities – please contact Lori Hess at loribhess@aol.com if you are able to help out.  We need parent/guardian help at two slots: 9:25 to 10:20 and 11:25 to 12:40 on Friday 4/21.

Here are some more details about Jefferson’s Earth Day celebration:

Walk and Roll to school: Celebrate Earth Day and reduce pollution by Walking or Rolling to school on Friday 4/21!  Leave your car at home, leave extra time to park a few blocks away, or carpool with friends.  Parents, please stay for a few minutes to join us for coffee (bring your own mug to reduce waste!) and participate in creating an Earth Day mural.
Earth Day activities: Join the Green Team at morning and afternoon recess on Friday 4/21 for eco-friendly activities including recycle relay race, upcycled CD art, planting (if your succulent from last year’s earth day is outgrowing its cereal bowl planter and you would like to plant it at school, please bring it in), Kids4PlanetEarth letter-writing campaign and more!  We are collecting old/used CDs (collection box outside school office) and seeking parent volunteers (shifts are 9:15 – 10:45 or 11:15 – 12:45) – please contact loribhess@aol.com if you are able to help out!
Zero waste lunch: If you pack a lunch, make it zero waste for Earth Day!  Pack food in reusable containers, use a cloth napkin and reusable utensils, and put it all in a reusable lunch bag/box.  You will make the earth happy!
Shoreline cleanup: Join other Jefferson families at the Shorebird Park Nature Center at the Berkeley Marina at 9:00 a.m. on Saturday 4/22 to learn about the impact plastic is having on our environment and help clean up our shoreline. For more info and to preregister, go to http://www.ci.berkeley.ca.us/shorelinecleanup/or call 510-981-6720.
EarthCapades: Join us for the entertaining Waste Reduction Production assembly on Tuesday 5/2 at 8:45 a.m.!

Thank you,
The Green Team

MayFair Raffle Tickets!  And Volunteer Information

Hello Jefferson families,

It’s raffle ticket season!! Every year at Jefferson’s Mayfair celebration (Sunday May 21st) there is a raffle for great prizes, including an iPad mini, park-hopper tickets to Disneyland, guest passes to the Bay Area Discovery Museum, and other tickets and gift certificates for local attractions, eateries, and businesses. Raffle ticket sales bring in close to $15,000 to help support Jefferson!
Today, in your child’s communication folder, you will find an envelope that has two books of raffle tickets. We hope that you will be able to sell the raffle tickets to friends, family, and neighbors. After you return from spring break we will be letting you know about opportunities to sign up for Thursday evening sales at the Cheeseboard and weekend sales at Monterey Market. This is a fun way to get together with friends and classmates to sell more raffle tickets. All supplies will be provided for the Thursday and weekend sales; classroom teachers and Tiana also have extra tickets.
There are prizes for top ticket sellers and the class with the greatest participation (even one ticket counts!!) will earn a pizza party!
Thank you for supporting Jefferson school!

Incoming TK student?

Hi Jefferson families,

Do you have an incoming TK student? Let’s get in touch! Curious to know who is going to what campus and how Jefferson families can support each other.

I have heard from last year’s families that you can request bus service from Jefferson, but need to start asking around now.

Email me and I will put together a group for us: amanda.vonmoos@gmail.com
